Padres and 3B Chase Headley avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $8.575 million deal.
Headley, 28, requested $10.3 million with the Padres countering at $7.075 million when figures were exchanged. It’s a well-earned raise for Headley, who finished fifth in MVP voting in the NL after hitting .286 with 31 home runs and 115 RBIs in 2012. Headley also earned his first Gold Glove.
